Lottery Sometimes I buy lottery tickets. The ones I buy are always priced at 200 yen each. Half of the 200 yen is used by the government for the benefit of society, while the other half is paid out to the winners of the lottery. In other words, the lottery is completely nonsensical as an investment, and most people end up losing money. Spending a large amount of money on the lottery is gambling, not investing.
