ある時、思考錯覚の中に生きる男がいた。彼の一生は、常に思考錯覚の連続であった。

毎日、勘違い、思い違いをし、それに基づいて間違った判断を下し、行動を起こし、その結果、問題をより一層複雑で、解決不可能な状況にしてしまうのであった。

彼は、訳の分からないまま毎日を過ごし、訳の分からないまま歳を取り、訳のわからないままその生涯を終えた。

数年後、彼の遺品から一枚のメモが見つかった。そこには自筆で「我が人生、試行錯誤の連続なり」と書かれていた。そして「試行錯誤」の漢字には、次の様に、平仮名が振ってあった。「しこうさっかく」。

思考 (しこう) : thinking, thoughts (noun)

錯覚 (さっかく) : an illusion, recognizing something incorrectly, misunderstanding (noun)

ある時 (あるとき) : Once upon a time

中 (なか) : inside, in a container, room, group, circle, etc.

思考錯覚の中 : in an illusional thinking

生きる (いきる) : to live (verb)

思考錯覚の中に生きる : to live in thinking in an illusion (verb)

男 (おとこ) : a man

男がいた。: There was a man.



彼の一生は、常に思考錯覚の連続であった。
He lived his whole life thinking in illusions.

彼 (かれ) : he/his/him

一生 (いっしょう) : your whole life

彼の一生 : the whole of his life

常に (つねに) : always

思考錯覚 (しこうさっかく) : thinking in illusion (noun)

連続 (れんぞく) : a situation that something happens repeatedly or continuously (noun)

連続であった。: It repeated many times.




毎日、勘違い、思い違いをし、それに基づいて間違った判断を下し、行動を起こし、その結果、問題をより一層複雑で、解決不可能な状況にしてしまうのであった。
He was misled by his intuitions and thoughts, and made bad decisions, and acted on them. As the results, his problems became more complicated, and the situations were impossible for him to resolve.

一層 (いっそう) : more (Think of "er" in "bigger," "smaller," "heavier," "lighter," etc.)

解決 (かいけつ) : solution, solving a problem, resolving (noun)

可能 (かのう) : possible

不可能 (ふかのう) : impossible

状況 (じょうきょう) : a situation

解決不可能な状況 : a bad situation which is impossible to resolve (noun clause)

する : to do something (verb)

状況にする : to make such a situation (verb)

してしまう : to do something accidentally, mistakenly or unintentionally (verb)

のであった : It was the situation. It was what I am telling you. It was the truth.

してしまうのであった : It was the truth that you did it accidentally, mistakenly or unintentionally.






彼は、訳の分からないまま毎日を過ごし、訳の分からないまま歳を取り、訳のわからないままその生涯を終えた。
He spent his daily life without understanding the meaning of his life, got old, then passed away.

訳 (わけ) : a reason, a purpose

分かる (わかる) : to understand (verb), You understand it. (situation)

訳が分からない。: You don't understand it. You don't know the reason or purpose for the ongoing event or the current situation.

分からないまま : without knowing it, without understanding it

訳の分からないまま : without knowing the reason or purpose, without understanding the current situation

毎日 (まいにち) : every day

過ごす (すごす) : to spend your daily life, time or days (verb)

過ごした。: You spent your time or days.

過ごし、..... : You spent your time or days and/then/so .......

歳 (とし) : an age, how you are old (noun)

取る (とる) : to take (verb)

取り、.... (とり、...)  : You took it and/then/so ........

歳をとる : to get old (verb)

生涯 (しょうがい) : your whole life, all your life (noun)

終える (おえる) : to end, to come to the end, to finish, to complete, to close (verb)

生涯を終える : to pass away (verb)

終えた。: You ended it. You finished it.

生涯を終えた。: You passed away.




数年後、彼の遺品から一枚のメモが見つかった。
Several years later, a note which had belonged to him was found.

そこには自筆で「我が人生、試行錯誤の連続なり」と書かれていた。
On the note, it was written by him in handwriting, "My life is always trials and errors."

連続 (れんぞく) : a situation when something repeatedly happens

試行錯誤の連続 : a situation when you repeat trials and errors (noun clause)

........なり : It is ..... (poetic, old fashioned expression)

我が人生、試行錯誤の連続なり。 : My life is a succession of trials and errors.

連続なり : It is something which happens repeatedly.

書く (かく) : to write (verb)

書かれる : to be written (verb)

書かれている : It is written. (So, you can see it now.)

書かれていた : It was written. (So, you were able to see it at the time.)

そこには書かれていた。: Something was written on it.

自筆で書かれていた。: It was written in someone's own handwriting.

「......」と書かれていた。: It was written like this "................"




そして「試行錯誤」の漢字には、次の様に、平仮名が振ってあった。「しこうさっかく」。
Then, hiragana letters were also added to a kanji word "Shiko-Sakugo" which meant "trials and errors" but hiragana were "Shikou-Sakkaku", and it was a wrong reading by him.

漢字 (かんじ) : kanji, one of Japanese character sets, Each kanji has many readings in pronunciation.

次 (つぎ) : the next, the following

様 (よう) : like this (This part is not used by itself.)

次の様 : like following, like this

平仮名 (ひらがな) : hiragana, one of Japanese character sets, Each hiragana has only one sounds in most cases except few cases. Hiragana is also used to help you reading difficult kanji. With hiragana characters along kanji, you can read the kanji aloud. For example, "平仮名" are three kanji and "ひらがな" are four hiragana, then you can read "平仮名" aloud with the help of hiragana "ひらがな."

振る (ふる) : to shake, to assign (verb)

平仮名を振る : to write hiragana along kanji, so others can read the kanji (verb)

振ってある (ふってある)

平仮名が振ってある : Hiragana are printed along kanji. (So, you can see it now.)

平仮名が振ってあった : Hiragana were printed along kanjia. (So, you were able to see it at the time.)
