A Boatman

Once upon a time, there was a man who had been suffering from insomnia. His name was Eutychus, and he worked as a boatman.

One morning, his wife asked him where they should have lunch but he was quiet and unresponsive. She noticed that Eutychus was nodding to himself while holding his coffee cup. "Wake up!" said his wife. He then dropped his cup on his right thigh and woke up.

After eating breakfast, Eutychus went to work. He rowed his boat for his customers. One of them asked Eutychus to speed up the boat because it seemed that it was going forward too slowly but again he was unresponsive. They saw that he was just nodding to himself. "Sir! What are you doing?" exclaimed the customer. The boatman lost his balance and fell into the water. Luckily, some of the passengers rescued him. After that incident, they decided it was safer to return to shore.

In the evening, Eutychus took a Japanese class. The instructor whose name was Paul, taught many grammatical points with visual charts and formulas. Eutychus felt increasingly sleepy as the instructor continued to teach. Paul called on Eutychus, asking for his contribution. "Eutychus, can you make an example sentence?" asked Paul, but yet again Eutychus was nodding to himself in an unresponsive manner.

After class, Eutychus went back home and had supper with his wife.  As soon as he finished eating, he left his wife at the table to go to the study room. His wife finished her meal ten minutes later and went to the study room, but saw that he was nodding off to himself yet again at his computer. As she approached the computer, she noticed that he pressed the same letter many times on an editing tool, which looked like: "ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ." His wife took the mouse and clicked the save button and left him alone to sleep.

Around midnight, Eutychus woke up at his computer. He was shocked to see the screen full of 'Z' letters. He went to the bedroom but a
gain, Eutychus could not sleep for about two hours.

The following day, Eutychus' wife suggested he visit their home doctor. The doctor asked several questions about Eutychus' daily activities. The doctor told Eutychus that he would not be able to sleep at night because he nodded off too often during the daytime.

Eutychus went to the fitness gym. He liked working out using the rowing machine. So he did it repeatedly. When he got tired, he took a long break. A gym employee said to Eutychus, "Are you alright, sir?" Eutychus was nodding off on the rowing machine.
