Would you like to read stories to help you to learn English? 

May 7, 2019 : I have received a message from a Japanese lady telling me that she reads my bilingual stories to help her to learn English. Most of my English sentences have been updated with help from native English speakers. So, this time, I would like to try to write explanations for English words and phrases used in the story "At Ringside (English version)." If I feel that my work is helping you to learn English, then I will do the same with my other stories.

May 7, 2019 : ある日本人女性の方から、私のバイリンガルのストーリーを英語の学習のために読んでくださっているとメッセージをいただきました。私の英文の多くは、英語のネィティヴスピーカー方々の助けを借りて改訂しています。

そこで、今回試しに、"At Ringside"(英語版)に、英単語やフレーズの説明を入れてみたいと思います。この試みが、皆様の英語学習のお役に立ちそうであるとの感触が得られれば、他のストーリーにも展開していきたいと思います。

ある日本人の方から、私のバイリンガルのストーリーを英語の学習のために読んでくださっているとメッセージをいただきました。

ある日本人 : a Japanese who the sentence will tell about (noun)

バイリンガル : bilingual

ストーリー : a story

英語 (えいご) : English

学習 (がくしゅう) : leaning (noun)

英語の学習 : learning English

ため : a purpose, a reason

英語学習のため : the purpose that you learn English

読む (よむ) : to read (verb)

英語学習のために読む : to read something to help you to learn English (verb)

くださる。 : You give me a gift. (So, I'm happy.)

読んでくださる。: You will read it. (I'm happy because you are going to read it.)

読んでくださっている。: You are reading it. (progress, I'm happy because you are doing it.), You often or sometimes read it. (current and recent regular activity, I'm happy because you do it.)

メッセージ : a message

いただく : I receive.

メッセージをいただく : I receive a message or messages.

メッセージをいただきました。 : I received a message or messages.

私のストーリーを読んでくださっているとメッセージをいただきました。: I have received a message from someone telling that he or she reads my stories. (So, I am happy about it.)

助け (たすけ) : a help, helping someone (noun)

借りる (かりる) : to borrow (verb)

助けを借りる : to ask someone's help (verb)

助けを借りて : with someone's help

方々の助けを借りて : with their help

改訂 (かいてい) : correcting, revising, updating your writing (noun)

改訂する : to correct, to revise, to update (verb)

しています。: I am now doing it. (present progress), I often/usually/regularly do it. (current and recent regular activity)

改訂しています。: I am now working on updating it. (present progress), I often/usually/regularly update it. (current and recent regular activity), I have already updated it. (finished or completed action) (The meaning depends on the context.)

私の英文の多くは改訂しています。: Most of my English sentences have already been updated. I have already updated most of my English sentences. (But I still need to work on updating the rest of them.)




そこで、今回試しに、"At Ringside"(英語版)に、英単語やフレーズの説明を入れてみたいと思います。

試しに (ためしに) : for a trial (purpose)

英語版 (えいごばん) : an English version, an English translation

英単語 (えいたんご) : an English word, English words

フレーズ : a phrase, phrases

英単語やフレーズ : English words and phrases

説明 (せつめい) : an explanation, explanations

英単語の説明 : an explanation for an English word, explanations for English words

フレーズの説明 : an explanation for a phrase, explanations for phrases

英単語やフレーズの説明 : explanations for English words and phrases

入れる (いれる) : to put something in a container, box, etc. (verb), to include something (verb), to accept someone in your group (verb), to let someone in a room, building, etc. (verb), to hire someone at your company (verb), and so on.

説明を入れる : to write an explanation, to write explanations (verb)

説明を入れてみる : to try to write an explanation or explanations (verb)

思う (おもう) : to think, to consider, to wonder (verb)

思います。: I think. I consider. I would like to do it. I want to do it.

みたいと思います。: I would like to do it. I want to try to do it. I will try to do it.




この試みが、皆様の英語学習のお役に立ちそうであるとの感触が得られれば、他のストーリーにも展開していきたいと思います。

皆 (みんな) : everyone (noun, casual expression, you can say '皆' when talking about your friends, your classmates, your family members, etc. but not about your customers or your teachers.)

皆様 (みなさま) : everyone, all of you, our customers, my followers, you guys in this room (noun, polite, formal, business like expression)

英語学習 (えいごがくしゅう) : learning English (noun)

皆様の英語学習 : helping yourselves to improving your English skills (noun clause)

役 (やく) : a help, helping someone, assisting someone (noun), ("お役" is a polite expression.)

立つ (たつ) : to stand (verb)

役に立つ (やくにたつ) : to be helpful or useful (verb), helpful (adjective)

学習の役に立つ : to be helpful for learning, to work as a learning material or method (verb)

役に立ちそう : It seems to be helpful. It is likely to be helpful. You now feel that it is helping someone. You now see it seems to be helping someone.

感触 (かんしょく) : a feeling which you have, a feeling that something seems to be true, a situation that you feel something is probably happening (noun)

お役に立ちそうであるとの感触 : a feeling which you think that something seems to be helpful (noun clause)

得る (える) : to get something (verb)

得られる (えられる) : You can get it. You will have it. Something good will happen to you.

感触が得られる : You get such a feeling.

得られれば : if you will be able to get it, if you will have it, if something good will happen to you (condition)

他 (た / ほか) : another, other, the other, the others, some others (depends on the context)

ストーリー : a story, stories

他のストーリー : another story, some other stories, the other stories(depends on the context)

展開 (てんかい) : extending, spreading (noun)

展開する : to extend, to spread (verb)

していく : to do something one by one, to do something more and more, to keep doing something (verb)

展開していく : to keep extending/spreading (verb)

していきたい : You want to do something one by one/more and more.

思います。: I think so. I would like.

していきたいと思います。: I would like to do it one by one/more and more.

他のストーリーにも展開していきたいと思います。: I would like to do the same on the other stories, too.

Okay, now, I will begin working on it. -->  At Ringside

では、... : Okay, ... Well, ... So, ....

今から (いまから) : Now, From now on

作業 (さぎょう) : a task, a work (noun), working on something (noun)

取り掛かる (とりかかる) : to begin working on something (verb)

取り組む (とりくむ) : to begin working on something (verb), to wrestle or grapple (verb, This expression was originally a technical term for Sumo wrestling but now is also used as an idiomatic expression.)

取り掛かります。/ 取り組みます。: I/We will begin working on it.

今から取り掛かりますよ。: Now, I/we will begin working on it. Let's begin now! (casual, spoken expression)

“I have received” if you are writing in the past tense I would say “I received” but because you have written it as a diary entry and it’s about something that has just happened I have left it as “I have received a message.”

But you can also say:
Today I received a message.
I have just received a message today.

The sentence:
If I feel that my work is helping you to learn English, then I will do the same with my other stories.

Also you can also say:
If you feel that my work is helping you to learn English, then I will do the same with my other stories.

I received : 私は受け取った。(過去に受け取ったと言うだけで、今、手元にあるかどうかについては、特別なニュアンスが感じられません。)

I have received : 私は受け取っている。(たぶん、最近受け取って、今、手元にあるニュアンスが感じられます。)

I had received : 私は受け取っていた。(過去に受け取っていて、その時は、手元に有った感じですかね。)

received a message : 一通のメッセージを受け取った

I have received a message : 一通のメッセージを受け取りました。 (最近の出来事なので、"have"を使いました。)

Paperwork Throughout every stage of the Japanese medical care system, from government offices and service providers to the people receiving care, seem to spend the vast majority of their time filling out a tremendous amount of paperwork. Unfortunately if a person who receives medical services is unable or cannot manage his or her documents, then their family will receive mountains of paperwork from both the government offices and service providers. I think that the Japanese government should headhunt talented people from advanced companies such as Amazon, Facebook, Google, and so on.
