The Ultimate Chopper

Once upon a time, there was a woman who had just immigrated to the United States from Japan. She knew very little English. She watched the same TV commercial every day to improve her listening skills. The advertisement was about a product called, "Ultimate Chopper." In the commercial, the chopper would crush any food, like dry beans, and even pieces of concrete. She kept repeating the phrases after each narration everyday. This learning method worked very well. Eventually, she was able to hear all phrases very clearly. After the Ultimate Chopper infomercial, she tried listening to advertisements on other products. On New Years Day, her room was occupied by many appliances, furniture, bags, cosmetics, exercise machines, supplements and many other things, in addition to the Ultimate Chopper.

ある時、日本から米国に移住したばかりの女がいた。彼女はまだ英語は少ししか話せなかった。彼女はリスニングのスキルを向上させる為に、毎日同じテレビコマーシャルを見ていた。それは、究極のチョッパーと言う製品の広告であった。コマーシャルの中では、そのチョッパーは、どんな食材や豆類、更には、コンクリートの破片でさえも粉砕していた。彼女は、語り手のひとつひとつのフレーズを、オウム返しに、声に出す練習を、毎日続けた。その学習方法は、功を奏した。そのうちに、彼女は、全てのフレーズを完全に聞き取れるようになった。究極のチョッパーの後、彼女は、もっと多くの製品の広告を聴くように努めた。新年を迎えたとき、彼女の部屋は、多くの家電製品、家具、鞄、化粧品、運動器具、サプリ、その他多くの物で占有されていた。その中には、究極のチョッパーも有った。
