Earl Grey Tea, Please!
Once upon a time, there was a Japanese man who loved going to Starbucks Coffee whenever he traveled to the United States. The man liked Earl Grey tea, so he always ordered it.
On the other hand, the man had a hard time ordering Earl Grey tea for some reason. He could not pronounce the “R” or "L" sound in English.
One day, he was trying to order Earl Grey tea, “アールグレーティープリーズ！” However, it seemed that the cashier did not understand and said to the man, “What would you like, sir?” The man answered, “I would like to order アールグレーティープリーズ！” The cashier said, “Sorry, I don’t get it. Could you repeat again?” The man finally asked the cashier, “What kind of flavors of tea do you have?” The cashier answered, “Oh! We have Darjiling tea, Ceylon tea and Earl Grey tea.” The man said, “The third one, please!” The cashier said, “Sure! Please enjoy your tea! Have a nice day!” The man enjoyed his Earl Grey tea.
Several months later, the man traveled to the U.S. again. He went to Starbucks as usual. He tried to order Earl Grey tea again, “アールグレーティープリーズ！” The cashier said, “Sorry? What would you like?” After several conversations, the man, with confidence, said, “The third one, please!”
In this way, he enjoyed ordering Earl Grey tea in the U.S., ever after.
