The New Japanese Era I had not watched tv news until supper time yesterday because I was busy. So, I got the name of new era on the tv news during our supper. 新しい元号 昨日は忙しくて、夕食時までテレビを見ていませんでした。それで、夕食を食べている時にテレビのニュースで新しい元号名を知りました。 Words and Phrases 新しい (あたらしい) : new (adjective) 元号 (げんごう) : an era, the name of an era 今日 (きょう) : today 昨日 (さくじつ) : yesterday 忙しい (いそがしい) : busy 今日は忙しい : You are busy today. 忙しかった : You were busy. 昨日は忙しかった : You were busy yesterday. 忙しくて : because you are/were busy 今日は忙しくて、.... : You are busy today and/then/so ........ 昨日は忙しくて、.... : You were busy yesterday and/then/so ............. 夕食 (ゆうしょく) : supper 時 (とき) : a time, while you are doing something, during an event or activity 夕食時 (ゆうしょくじ) : supper time 夕食時まで : until your supper time, through your supper time テレビ : a television (appliance), a tv program, tv broadcasting 見る (みる) : to see, to watch (verb) 見た (みた) : You watched it.
