American English And British English

Do you think most Americans can speak British English or something very close to it? Or vice versa?

Today, I posted this question in my moment page on Hello Talk. Here are some comments from people.

I can't speak for British English but American English has changed , evolved so much that , there is just too much too much slang and a gap between British and American English.

There's a reason most people think British people sound more Intelligent compared to American English.

If I had to compare, I think British people would have it easier to replicate an American accent or speaking over Americans replicating British accent.

Sure we can. There are differences in the words we use to describe things such British say "flannel" Americans say "wash cloth" or British say "work top" Americans say "counter" but I do agree that there is a lot more slang in America to describe things. 

Even I have to question what they are saying sometimes haha.

I know a few British people and they seem to do okay with speaking like Americans

American actors and actresses who have to speak with a British or other accents when interviewed always say it takes some practice to do it right. 

I suspect the opposite is true too for people from the UK who want to speak with a proper American accent.

If I had to compare, I think British people would have it easier to replicate an American accent or speaking over Americans replicating British accent.

もしどうしても比べたとしたら、私が思うに、アメリカ人達がイギリス訛りを真似るより、イギリス人達がアメリカ訛りを真似るほうが簡単だったでしょう。

Even I have to question what they are saying sometimes haha.
