One Pen And Ten Notebooks Can Change Your Life!

One Pen And Ten Notebooks Can Change Your Life!

Once upon a time, there was a boy with his mother who lived in a facility for single mothers. The boy's name was "Ken" and his mother was "Mariko." Mariko worked at a ramen shop but her income was very low. Ken knew that his mother would not be able to afford his high school tuition. So, the boy decided that he would work after finishing junior high school. Mariko, on the other hand, wished her son would study for his future.

One day, Ken took a walk in an arcade and saw a sign that a new library had just opened. He entered the library and browsed through some books. As he moved between bookshelves, one category grabbed his attention. It was "Computer Science." Ken borrowed two books. One book explained the basic concepts of programming and the other one was for the Python programming language. Ken wished to become a programmer. He really wanted to learn it. However, he hesitated to ask his mother to buy a pc for him.

Two weeks later, Ken returned the books to the library. He told himself, "I should give up my dream." He walked into the arcade and found a part-time job offer at a 99-cents shop. The next day, he began working at the shop. The shop owner was very kind. The owner told him, "This is my gift to you. You can study at the library." Then he gave Ken one pen and ten notebooks. Ken appreciated the gift and began spending hours in the library after working at the shop every day.

One day, in the library, Ken was writing a code in his notebook. Someone spoke to him, "What are you writing?" The boy replied, "I'm writing a code." The man asked, "Are you a programmer?" Ken answered, "No, I work at a 99-cents shop." The man further asked, "So, you just enjoy it using your PC at home, right?" Ken said to the man, "Well, I don't have a PC. I can't afford one. I just write codes in my notebooks. The books are my teachers." The man noticed that there were many notebooks piled up on the table. The man asked, "Can I take a look at your notebooks?" Ken said, "Sure!"

The next morning, Ken was at the shop for work. The owner told him, "Ken, one of my friends wants to talk with you." Before lunch time, a man came to the shop. Ken was so surprised because it was the man he had talked with in the library. The man told Ken, "Let's have lunch together!" They had lunch at the ramen shop where Ken's mother worked.

Two months later, the 99-cents shop owner and his friend founded a software company. They employed Ken as a programmer. The boy kept reading books, on many different subjects, in the library when he had free time.

Two years later, Ken was on the stage at a TED conference. He spoke to the audience, "One pen and ten notebooks changed my life!"
