Episode 6: JJ Dojo

On November 1, 2017, Jane opened "JJ Hashijutsu and Tang Soo Do Dojo," affectionately called "JJ Dojo." While honored, she felt useless knowing I had to give up my training. Determined to help, she spoke with the Tang Soo Do master.

One day, the master called me. "How is your shoulder? Are you recovering?"

"I’m not sure. The pain isn’t going away," I replied.

The master continued, "Some of our students want to learn Japanese for work. Could you teach them?"

"That’s great! But I don’t know much grammar," I said.

He suggested I meet his friend, an ESL teacher who taught without grammar books. Inspired by her methods, I started teaching Japanese at JJ Dojo using my Hashijutsu experiences as class materials.
