Something More Than "Hi!" Once upon a time, there was a man who always says something more than "Hi!" to people. One day he registered his new account on a SNS. He saw many posts of various people, but one woman got his attention. She had completed her self-introduction,  and had many moments posted. She wrote on her introduction page, "If you message me, please say something more than 'Hi!'." The man messaged her writing: "Something more than 'Hi!'" She replied to the man: "Please say something more than, Something more than 'Hi!'." The man replied back: "Something more than, Something more than 'Hi!'." She replied again: "Please say something more than, Something more than, Something more than 'Hi!'." Today’s Class

In Japanese, we have two types of kana characters: hiragana and katakana characters. I will introduce some hiragana characters first. ' う ' (regular size) (vowel) : Think of the word "boots." The vowel here is a long vowel. Change it to a short vowel. This short vowel is close to 'う'. ' ぅ ' ( small size) : small ぅ Let's name this letter "small う" here. We don't use a small う by itself. It always follows something else to modify the sound. ' と ' : (consonant + vowel): This is the first letter of "Tokyo" or "tofu" in hiragana. Think of the word "talk" and change the long vowel to a short vowel. It will begin with a sound that is close to 'と'. " とぅ " (combination of two letters): The second letter small う modifies the sound of 'と'.  Let's take a English word "tomorrow."  It begins with the sound that is close to "とぅ."
